Albert,

Currently sold Dresden Tbirds are 900 to 1.2 GHz. So the lowest speed grade is 75% of the highest. If Palomino is capable of 1.5 GHz in Q2, the starting speed grade will most likely be 1.33 GHz. The best we can hope for is 1.2 GHz through 1.4 GHz in the first part of Q2, and 1.533 GHz at the end of June.

I don't really want AMD to introduce some stupid self imposed floor (like Intel did with 1.4 and 1.5 GHz P4, only to admit defeat later and introduce 1.3 GHz). I want AMD to sell any useable Palomino at or above 1 GHz.

Now what is a little confusing is this slide: customer.nvglb.com
which says Palomino > 1.2 GHz. But the question is if it applies to the highest speed grade or the lowest speed grade.

One thing I have learned watching this industry is not to expect any positive surprises, only negative ones. Anything that is positive is usually signaled (or leaked) well in advance.
