I can't agree with a lot of the stuff I hear.
What had happened is a matter of historical record.

1) The FED decided the economy was "too hot".
2) Even though there was no sign of inflation, they decided it was time to kill the market.
3) They hiked interest rates up to the sky.
4) This instantly killed the IPO market.
5) It also killed all the businesses that were just launched.
6) It also choked the telcos and everybody else that needed to borrow money.

The result?
1) There are no IPOs around that need to advertise.
2) The businesses that were just getting starting either died or exist but don't have the money to advertise.
3) Big businesses have a hard time getting capital and the recession has killed off a lot of competitors so they don't have the means or as much need to advertise.
4) The few businesses that have money don't want to advertise anywhere because they don't know what the crazy FED will do next or how badly the economy is damaged.

So this is not a Yahoo problem. It is a FED problem. Or, more correctly, it is a congress problem because conggress refuses to tell the FED that the FED is only allowed to interfere in the US economy if there is a emergency.

The FED might cut interest some more and try to get themselves out of the business of choking off capital. If they do, business will slowly return to normal. Absolutely nobody trusts the FED anymore. They have proven themselves failures. Everybody demands deeds and not words.

Dot bombs still have to produce something that people are willing to pay for - and do it for a profit.
Do you think that the only people that should be allowed to do business are those that are making a profit?
There was a guy that started a business, went public, and tried like hell to get enough subscribers to make a profit. He just couldn't do it and was always running at a loss. According to your (and AG's) theory, this guy should be put out of business. The guy's name was Alexander Bell and it was the Bell Telephone Company he was trying get established. I hope every time you answer a telephone from now till the day you die you remember that you and AG would have killed this guy off immediately and made sure that his horrible business never got established.
