F5 Networks' 3-DNS Controller Brings Home InternetWeek's
Prestigious `Best-of-Breed' Award

Comprehensive Testing of Global Load Balancing
Products by the Well-Respected InternetWeek
Test Labs Places F5 Networks At the Top

SEATTLE--March 8, 2001--F5 Networks, Inc. (Nasdaq:FFIV), the
leading provider of Internet Traffic and Content Management (iTCM)
products, today announced that the 3-DNS(R) Controller has earned
InternetWeek's prestigious `Best-of-Breed' award -- receiving the top
rating over competing global load balancing products from Nortel
Networks, Foundry Networks, and Radware.
According to the InternetWeek review, the 3-DNS Controller's
winning highlights include its overall maturity; easy configuration
and management; superior reporting features and alerting functions; a
broad feature set; and a DNS server that ranks among the best in the
industry.
"Receiving the `Best-of-Breed' award from InternetWeek is an honor
for F5 and also reinforces why our customers are so enthusiastic about
our products and services," said Jeff Pancottine, Senior
Vice-President of Marketing and Business Development at F5 Networks.
"We're proud because all of F5's iTCM products have been consistently
receiving recognition and honors by key industry organizations. These
consistent wins are a reflection of F5's ability to deliver innovative
products that solve customers' problems today in the most effective
way."

InternetWeek's Summary of the 3-DNS Controller

According to the InternetWeek write up, "The 3-DNS Controller is a
mature product that is easy to configure and manage. The 3-DNS
Controller has a very rich feature set, with a DNS server that is
worth the cost of the product by itself. It will work with any local
load balancer, and provide high levels of functionality in reporting
and data gathering with many other vendors' products." Additionally,
InternetWeek cited:

-- Great value, feature set, maturity
-- A DNS server that might alone be worth the price
-- The only product to offer built-in e-mail or pager alerts
-- Excellent security

About the 3-DNS Controller

The 3-DNS Controller is a 24x7 high availability, intelligent load
balancing product for geographically distributed Internet sites and
data centers. 3-DNS intelligently distributes traffic to multiple
Internet sites -- regardless of platform type -- based on information
about the site's availability and network's "health". 3-DNS ensures
that end users are sent to a site that is available and provides the
best response. 3-DNS' industry-first CDN Peering capabilities allows
e-businesses to cost-effectively and easily send traffic to a 3rd
party network, based on specific business needs. The CDN then becomes
a managed extension of the customer's network, allowing traffic to
overflow to a CDN (overflow insurance), or peer traffic between CDNs
based on other criteria. No other wide area load balancer offers this
capability.
