R, I think all car manufacturers are making improvements. I still see a higher incidence of body rot and rust amongst Japanese cars- including early 90s. My sister purchased a 1983 subaru and 1985 VW Jetta both new . The Subaru is long gone due to body rot . The Jetta is still going strong and looked great until my nephew started driving it. -g- I see many BMWs from the mid 80s with minimal to no rust. As I said it remains to be seen if the current crop of Japanese cars will last 15-20 years in the snow belt . Mike
