SI Diamond Technology, Inc. Announces the Successful Formation of Phase II HyFED(TM) International Development Team AUSTIN, Texas, March 8 /PRNewswire/ -- SI Diamond Technology, Inc. (OTC Bulletin Board: SIDT - news) through its subsidiary, Field Emission Picture Element Technology, Inc. (FEPET) today announced the expansion of its international HyFED(TM) development team and the start of Phase II of the project. During Phase I of the HyFED(TM) program, the original team successfully completed the goal of developing a 4-inch monochrome prototype. The new team now consists of companies that will combine their expertise to develop a proof of concept of a full color, 4-inch diagonal HyFED(TM) display as a precursor to a 60-inch diagonal flat cathode ray tube (CRT).
The team now consists of 12 companies specializing in the field of CRT component manufacturing and CRT development. The team includes companies from Asia, Europe and North America: specifically, two companies in China, Shanghai Novel Color Picture Tube, one of China's largest CRT manufacturers and Shanghai Vacuum Electron Devices Co.; three companies in Japan; three companies in Europe, including one of the leading CRT glass envelope manufacturers; and four companies in the United States, including a custom CRT maker, a manufacturer of specialty electronic drivers, and FEPET, Inc.
Each participant involved in Phase II will receive an option to license the technology developed, either for manufacturing the specific HyFED(TM) component or to produce the entire HyFED(TM) display.
FEPET's HyFED(TM) technology combines the best properties of CRT's and field emission display (FED's) using its proprietary diamond/carbon films. The HyFED(TM) display is designed to achieve a high-quality thin display using the existing CRT manufacturing base. This display has the potential to be larger, brighter, and to provide a higher resolution than conventional CRTs, while remaining cost-competitive with the CRTs.
One of the most successful inventors in the CRT field, Dr. Ohkoshi (Research Fellow Emeritus of Sony Corporation) said, ``As a veteran of CRT technology, I am following the development of the HyFED(TM) with great interest and high hopes.''
``Successful conclusion of Phase II could provide an elegant solution for large area digital displays and televisions that compete with CRT's and Plasma Display Panels,'' said Dr. Zvi Yaniv, President and Chief Operating Officer of SI Diamond Technology, Inc.
Also today, SI Diamond Technology Inc., is unveiling its new website, www.sidiamond.com, which includes product information and demonstrations.

Okay, they continue to stay on track, and for my money remain an intriguing speculation although one upon which I'm not yet willing to nibble. But I do continue to monitor it.
Very interesting stuff has come out of late, eh? ;-)
