You're right. I might like one as a pet, too. I've told this story before about a raven I watched in a McDonald's parking lot. He was able to open a bag someone had discarded, get the clam shell out, open the clam shell, and get whatever morsels there were inside. It clearly looked like he had done it before many times. I really admired that.

It could be that my birds are just in some other neighborhood right now. We have lots of very tall trees and the big birds like them. Perhaps the song birds are just a few blocks away. I know that the house finches in the northeast have some kind of disease so perhaps that explains their absence.

At least the seagulls are staying in the shopping centers and haven't found my neighborhood yet.
