That's not what I was saying. People frequently make judgements about things where they aren't a party (like gay marriage or union). To me, it is so patently obvious that NO ONE has a stake in this union except them. They aren't doing anything to you. If your union is protected by law and you deny that to them, your judgement of what is and isn't a marriage is doing something TO them. That is wrong.

In the case of the break-ins, there are clearly judgements that can be reasonably made by the store owner (and society) about them. They are doing something to him. Most laws are about restricting harm others can do to you. That is fine. But if someone is speeding and no one is around, that is also fine with me. The enforcement becomes the de facto judgement because obviously someone was around (the policeman with the radar gun).
