I'm not a good example because other than the usual mortgage and car payments we have no debt. And they are not even close to being beyond our means.

And I love to spend money. And I'm good at managing my money and always have been. All my credit cards are paid in full every month (and we go to Jamaica every year on the frequent flyer miles :-) Nothing irks me more than interest payments.

But I have some family members that aren't so strong in that area. So I do know a bit how the other half lives. And I agree that it is a parent's responsibility to teach their kids.
