TrueTime Awarded Contract from PanAmSat for Precise Timing Solutions
TrueTime's Network Time and Frequency Receivers to Synchronize Data Transfer Through the World's Largest Commercial Geostationary Satellite Network
SANTA ROSA, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--March 8, 2001-- TrueTime, Inc. (Nasdaq:TRUE - news), a leading provider of precision time and frequency products, today announced it has won a new contract from PanAmSat Corporation (Nasdaq:SPOT - news), a leading provider of global video and data broadcasting services via satellite, increasing the total contract to more than half a million dollars during the last 24 months. Under the terms of the contract, TrueTime will supply PanAmSat with precise timing solutions that will help prevent lost information or ``slips'' in the transmitted data to and from satellites.
TrueTime will provide Network Time Servers with accompanying customized XL-DC Network Time and Frequency Receivers and Distribution Chassis to precisely synchronize PanAmSat's Ethernet hubs to an ultraprecise accuracy of one to 10 milliseconds. In turn, all of PanAmSat's enterprise functions will derive their time from the hubs. This precise time afforded by TrueTime will enable the vast amounts of data packets traveling over PanAmSat's satellite enterprise to be accurately synchronized with the timestamping of the individual packets.
