Well maybe I should clarify my position. I totally agree with you about the pros, anal-cysts whatever you want to call them. My only difference is I lump them all together but believe that those that pump and dump on the private side are "more guilty" than the analysts. The reason I say this, is companies like Goldman etc are buying and selling everything all day long, every day. They move in and out of INTC, CSCO etc multiple times a day. I know we say they are selling a stock at times but we are talking net, not total. These guys day trade just as much as any of us. As a matter of fact, they often take the other side for less than honorable reasons throwing small bids out to bait prices up so they can dump blocks later. How many times have you seen something bid up pre-market on light volume then watched big blocks dump it all day? It isn't an accident. Anyway, to get back on topic. Cohen may or may not know what her firm is planning on lightening up on before touting something. Most times, she also sticks with the big stocks and I see her more of taking the "safe" tout than really targeting something her firm is trying to dump. If she is guilty of anything, it is trying to just get the whole market up before an IPO ( especially their own 2 years ago).

Guys like Tokyo Joe that kid etc on the other hand weren't trading CSCO, EMC etc. They were targeting low float stocks that could be run up on the light volume of their readers and the dumb masses that take their plays from Bulletin boards. That is flagrant flaunting of obvious intent to profit on the ignorance of the J6Ps in this world.

I see what you are saying and technically they are the same but in my mind there is a big difference in hyping a stock with 500 million shares that trades 750,000 or more a day and hyping a stock with a 1 million float that trades 20K a day.

I do agree with you though that the people that get caught in these things deserve what they get. They are going to lose anyway as a fool and his money are soon parted. It is just a matter of time and method but it will happen.

Maybe I am naive in this regard but I would like to think that most of us that run websites are trying to help level the playing field for the little guy and do have other people's best interests in mind. TJ was trying to do the opposite from the start and was intentionally trying to take advantage of them for his own gain. Maybe I am wrong but that was my impression even when he was still operating on SI.

Good Luck,

Lee
