"German bank Dresdner on Friday called on the U.S. Defense Stockpile to release some of the 431,000 ounces of platinum
and the 1.264 million ounces of palladium it holds to ease the squeeze.

But the Stockpile's manager, Peter Roman, said Thursday Congressional approval was needed for another sale and it could
not be organized before the end of summer."
