snips from an article:

New York, March 9 (Bloomberg) -- GE Capital Services Inc., a unit of General Electric Co., was threatened by Fannie Mae for criticizing the government-sponsored mortgage company, the Wall Street Journal online edition said.

GE Capital Chief Executive Denis Nayden said his company has ``been on the receiving end of multiple communications from Fannie Mae indicating that GE would suffer financial consequences if GE remained a member of FM Watch,'' the Journal reported.

The paper said yesterday that Wells Fargo & Co. and American International Group Inc. have also been threatened. Freddie Mac chairman Leland Brendsel said yesterday ``we don't threaten.'' The Journal today cited Fannie Mae spokeswoman Janice Daue as describing the charges as ``baseless.''

The Financial Services Forum decided to urge reform of Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac on the ground that they compete unfairly at a meeting two weeks ago, the Journal said, citing unidentified people familiar with the group's discussions.
