RE: some sectors are still growing.
Yesterday's IBD had an interview with the CEO of Veeco Instruments Inc. titled Company Helps Put The Optics Into Latest Fiber-Optic Gear. From the article, "Chief Executive Ed Braun says the company will grow 42% next year, even with slowing telecom spending.Credit for the projected growth goes to the need for thin-film filters used in broadband communications networks. Veeco's gear enables production of these filters...In November 1999 we bought a company called Ion Tech. They specialized in deposition equipment for thin-film filters....This year we'll ship three times the number of systems we did last year. There is going to be some slowing of sales. But still, revenue from this equipment is going to grow 200%..."

Bought back some shares I had to sell last Friday for 11 3/4. Didn't quite catch the bottom but I'll take it. Now if they'll just go back up.

OT: My son got to school this morning and the place was swarming with cops. A friend stopped him and said a kid plotting a shooting had been arrested but supposedly said "You got me but not my three friends." Grant turned right around and came home. At 6'-6" he's an easy target for this type of kids who often target athletes and honor students. Will this madness ever stop????
