re: Easy Language... the original syntax of Easy Language is unique and unlike other languages because it is specific to trading. The extensions that have been added to get to TS/4.0 are more like C. Even in its infancy Easy Language, imo, had more structure than Basic, so if you had to draw a parallel to either Pascal or Basic, I'd point at Pascal.

The predecessor to TS was System Writer Plus and it in fact used Turbo Pascal to interpret Easy Language syntax, then compiled Turbo Pascal to get executeable objects. So it was possible to build subroutines directly in Pascal using the SW+ and skip Easy Language altogether.

Independent of all that, you can write very simple trading systems in Easy Language without much problem if you understand what you're trying to do with the trade. What's more, you can create enormously complex trading systems depending on your ability as both a programmer and a trader. Once past the simple systems, the need for programming ability grows with the complexity of what you want to do.

TS provides the tools to do almost anything, but remember that Omega now has a new profit center in selling training seminars for Easy Language. There's a reason for that.
