"three-dimensional Cartesian space"

I recall that line was used in an episode of "Star Trek Next Generation".

Captain Picard expressed concern that the Federation should avoid entering three-dimensional Cartesian space during a time of uneasy truce. His glaring omission of two-dimensional Cartesian coordinate space, however, was protested by the Cartesians as being "consistant with Federation anti-Cartesian rhetoric" and "tantamount to a declaration of linear zero-point tolerance" in Federation/Cartesian negotiations.

Picard was reminded by the incident not to put Descarte before the horse.
