Hong Kong's Netvigator ISP Gets Bigger Pipes

Netvigator, the Hong Kong Internet service provider owned by Pacific Century CyberWorks [NYSE:PCW], has added international and local bandwidth in an effort to boost speeds and access.

Netvigator has boosted its international Internet capacity to 400 megabits per second (Mbps) from 320Mbps.

The ISP has also widened a pipe linking it with the Hong Kong Internet Exchange. This link which directs traffic to other ISPs and regional networks is now 1,155Mbps, up from 465Mbps.

Netvigator is one of Hong Kong's largest ISPs with over 630,000 subscribers - 200,000 of which have broadband access.

The Hong Kong Telecommunications Authority says that total Internet traffic in Hong Kong surged to 14.99 billion minutes in 2000, up from 10.92 billion minutes in 1999.
