Watching the following factors and timelines:

1) Big money on hold, waiting to buy. Next rate cut is the milestone they are waiting for. Why rush, negative momentum in economic data is still going. Prices are falling because no buyers. If the market drops far enough they will step in, but will give it one last push down first. Is this the last push down we are going thru right now? or is it lower still.

2)Timeline- Effect of first January rate cut and Effect of second January rate cut are working but their effects have not surfaced yet. Any signs that pop up to show they are starting to work will bring buyers back in.

3)Timeline- Slowing Effect of previous rate hikes should start to fade with new lower interest rates and restructuring in the economy that has occurred because of the old rate increases that put the squeeze on everybody.

4)Anticipated effect of March 20th rate cut and anticipated impact on market when effect of earlier rate cuts surface.

5)Murky visability still as to when the economy's negative momentum will turn the corner and bottom out. Better visability is necessary before large buy comittments are made.

These are some of the factors I am watching. I think the market is dropping because of Item 1 and 5 above. The market is looking for equilibrium between all these variables. Big money is probably giving it one big push down before they buy in, before the next rate cut. We still have 11 days to go, and if they don't cut, it will stay pretty messy.
