A question....my desktop has had a blue rectangular (shadowbox) about 1 1/2 X 3 inches right in the center of it for about 6 months. It appears to be a ghost remnant left there by my ISP dialer box?

Try this,rt. click it and see if properties or delete comes up on a menu and if so then delete it and if no delete perhaps it'll point you through the properties info to where the file is located on your hard drive.

You may be able to delete it from there.

Also you may go into the registry and if you know the name run a find and delete the key.

One last thought,do a search from your start menu for files and folders and type in *.gif and if you have the time check for your culprit there.
