I once ran in a 10K vs. Henry Rono, and it was quite obvious that the man was not on the same plane as myself. (At one time I was one of the top 100 mountain runners in the world.) He sprinted the entire race, and barely broke a sweat. I never saw him after the first 1/8 mile.

Since then I have put on about 30 pounds, and had the privilege of being at the Stanford track on several occasions when a Kenyan named "Keino" was training there.

Again I had the feeling that these people were fundamentally different physiological makeups from myself.
