I agree, it wasn't exactly a ringing endorsement. Here's what CBS Market Watch stated:

<< 3:33PM Microsoft says Q3 on track (MSFT) by August Cole

Microsoft says it's standing its ground with its third-quarter outlook even as once-unshakeable giants in the Internet and chip sector confess that U.S. economic weakness will crimp their financial performance. The Redmond, Wash.-based software company is keeping its outlook provided Jan. 18 during the company's second-quarter earnings conference call, said CFO John Connors in an interview with Reuters. Microsoft said it expects third-quarter revenue in the range of $6.3 billion to $6.4 billion with per-share earnings at 42 cents to 43 cents. Shares of Microsoft (MSFT) are down $2.50 to $56.75 while amid widespread declines in major U.S. indexes. >>
