Hi Bill - I ve not monitored LU too closely. You said it getting out of optical biz? What is the story?

End to end used to be a fabulous idea, but I begin to wonder if it is such a good idea. I mean, if NT, or anyone else, for that matter, is the top 2 [or 3] in every category, and with price performance advantage, then it is a great proposition when the telecom service providers are building out in a fast pace and when demand outstrips supply. Even so, it appears that carriers are getting more and more in the multiple sourcing. Then, when money is tight and carriers are forced to make selective buildout, that puts the end to end suppliers in a competitive disadvantage b/c of the overhead to carry so many product lines.

Of course, now we know everything goes in cycles, end to end will be fashionable again when 1) inventory correction is over; 2) money flows again and thus 3) carriers do not have to make hard choices

best, Bosco
