Energy is a typically a late cycle play. I agree on gold. Part of this shift is a rotation outside of the business cycle. Biology-based science will take top billing and electronic information procesing will taper off. It is still a big world out there and lots of markets are untapped. But the huge imbalances in trade and the current account as well as in differential savings rates between countries make it hard to get any traction from monetary stimulus. The international economic system sucks and there does not seem to be the international political leadership to do anything about it.
