"Why is it these idiots strike whan they are least needed.
Airline traffic is down and now they strike."

Not that simple. Labor contracts have terms, which must be honored. The unions try to time work stoppages when they will cause the most harm, within their powers. Christmas, Thanksgiving, Easter....all have more oomph than others.

While I tend to be pretty neutral on labor/management issues, I will say that the way Northwest has treated its long term employees, all of whom took pay cuts and freezes to keep the airline in business....with promises from management to return the dough when times got better...is terrible. After bonuses of millions were paid to the "geniuses" in management who "saved" the airline, the company wanted to back out of the promises for the workers. The unions don't trust Northworst, and never will..with reason.

end of rant.
