I contacted RoadRunner about the difficulties with SI and they checked their routing and SI's cable servers are having problems. It's been this way for several days for me and I have emailed SI with tracert and ping info.

Probably not what you want to hear, but I'm using cable (Shaw, Vancouver Island) and have had no problems with SI over the past several days. No noticeable slowdown.
