Great Idea. I'll be only too happy to be the first out of the many threads that own commercial sites and link them and plug them on SI even in their profile. No one of ever requested. If tomorrow SI policy changes ACROSS THE BOARD to ban advertising (everyone of course), I'll be the first to remove every single link. No problem, we don't care. No mentioning of signing up, costs, free trials, in headers, come ons, from interviews, pictures from seminars, no LINKS whatsoever. An 'even-handed' ban policy on all advertising is probably the best thing for everyone.
We were planning to have a "featured FORUM on SI" that will run simultaneously on our website as SI is going to be adding this feature for commercial enterprises. I was about to start looking into that this week as I posted already, as we've been waiting for 3 months for SI to begin this service, so its basically amusing that through all this hullaballo, while these few posters were falling all over themselves against advertising (so they say) we were planning this new feature. Its funny really that while a riotous group was shouting "Ban the Bastille" we were already planning this for months.
I've been looking at the viability and terms all along. That's also ideal for our intraday updates for our subscribers, who will have Market Gems, but not quite the same. It will be much better for us. This thread is too 'busy' for them to wade through the many daily posts.
A general BAN on ALL and EVERY kind of advertising is fine policy, excellent. Its timely and the best way to have an even handed policy much like their 'no banner' policy.
If you open a thread for a petition or someone else with credibility let me know and I'll 'post' my signature immediately. My only confusion here is simple. Is one who sits on a thread(s) with a pay site of their own to be the "leader" of this proposal. Why, George, don't YOU ask it. Somehow it might go over better. |
