Sudan: China plan to integrate oil exploration, pipeline operation, refining, oil processing etc.

CNPC's first overseas gas station opens in Africa
Consumidor (Mexico), March 10

The opening ceremony for the first overseas gas station of China National Petroleum and Natural Gas Corp. (CNPC) was officially held on March 1 in Khartoum, capital of Sudan.

The newly opened gas station in Khartoum is an important part of CNPC:s plan to integrate oil prospecting, oil exploration, oil pipeline operation, oil processing and refinery oil sales in Sudan, reported Xinhuashe (Xinhua News Agency) on March 2.

CNPC and Sudapet Ltd., along with oil companies from Malaysia and Canada, jointly established the Greater Nile Petroleum Operating Co. in March 1997 with an investment of US$1.7 billion to explore Sudanese oil fields. The CNPC is the companyïs largest shareholder.

The three main oil-producing areas in Sudan:s Muglad basin contracted and constructed by the CNPC officially began to export crude oil starting Aug. 30, 1999, the article said.
