The federal government, Reps and Dems, are equally culpable. They've been feeding at the trough of high cigarette taxes and that has yet to be spent on the medical costs. It's just gone into the general budget. It should've gone into the Medicare and Medicaid funding.

If the American Cancer Society is correct in that the average smoker lives 15 years less than the non-smoker, then the federal government is probably making a big profit off of the smokers.
