An interesting thought here - what if the markets become a lagging indicator for the economy instead of a forward-looking discounter?

"Thayer said that as more economic data come in, evidence that the economy is improving continues to mount. A few observers, including St. Louis Fed President William Poole, even believe the Fed could move from its current easing policy back to a neutral stance, he notes.

"The question is: Do they need to cut rates for the economy or for the market?" Thayer said. He pointed out that the Fed cut 100 basis points in January, when not just the market, but also the economy, was looking really bad. But now the economy seems to be doing better than the equity market."
