On Holyfield - his desperate behavior in the 11th showed a serious lack of champion-like character. I gotta say, I was not really impressed by either one of their performance.

Nothing illegal at all about anything Holyfield did to survive in the 11th. Stretched the rules with veteranship and guts. Ring survival at it's best.

Wasn't it Ruiz who blatantly fouled Holyfield in the 11th? No point deduction of course. Knocked Cortez down a notch in my book.

It's funny, JXM, I wasn't expecting to become passionate about the Holyfield - Ruiz fight. Holyfield's bravery and the screw-job 10th have gotten me going. No doubt, which as I've recently learned, means doubt, Holyfield has been a beneficiary of boxing backoffice politics. But Holyfield was winning that fight until the Ruiz low blow fakery. Holyfield had stepped up the pressure to a boil in the 9th round and Ruiz was ready to go.....did go, in the 10th. One listen to Ruiz' corner in the later rounds would tell you who was winning that fight:

"You can still do it John."

For different reasons I guess, I came away from Holyfield - Ruiz II more impressed with Holyfield than I thought possible. I can't decide which impression of Ruiz is the legit one. The one where he's KO'd on the floor looking for a way out of the fight, or the one of the fighter who hung around long enough to land a beautiful right hand bomb against an all time great champ. I think I'll go with the first one.
