No pain no gain? Hell no.. I hate pain, especially the pain of watching my money disappear :)

I spent the best part of the bull market trying to short turds and probably had an average of 2 hours sleep each weeknight as I was over allocated and looking for that 'get rich' homerun. Now I opt. for the mesquito bite rather than hornet sting- I set the stops tight, take my small loses over and over, and a few good calls and it washes the loses and hopefully lets me walk with 20-30% at the end of the year..

The only problem I have is that voice in my head..that compulsion that for some damn reason- surfaces out of the blue and says 'cmon paul! this ones a no brainer! Margin the max and lets get a nice profit here.. think what we can do with that money! lets do it!' and it always ends the same.. if it goes my way? i take the profits much too soon since im too scared and too much is on the line.. if it goes against me? the loss usually exceeds 10k, typically 20k for the same reason- because I couldnt afford to loss 1 point let alone 10 :)

Anyone know of any books on dealing with Compulsions? Actually im very serious..
