AMD Wins `Best Hardware Product' at System Builder Summit; System Builders Select AMD Athlon and Duron Processors at Gartner Event

SUNNYVALE, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--March 9, 2001--AMD (NYSE:AMD) has won the "Best Hardware Product" award at the Gartner's fifth System Builder Summit (SBS) in Orlando, Fla.

A group of 175 North American system builders chose AMD for the AMD Athlon(tm) and AMD Duron(tm) processors used in reseller systems that target small and medium businesses. The award marks the third time in three months that participants at a Gartner event have chosen AMD ahead of some of the top technology vendors that cater to enterprises. AMD has already won two consecutive "Best of Show" awards at Gartner's Midsize Enterprise Summit events in San Francisco, Calif., and Tampa, Fla.

"This award demonstrates that AMD is preferred by these system builders who are delivering AMD's innovative products to businesses, government and education," said Lee Little, AMD's director of field marketing for the Americas. "As a technology leader, AMD is well-positioned to deliver commercial systems and meet the needs and expectations of the business community, offering compatibility and stability for enterprise computing."

"This award shows appreciation of AMD's innovative technology, which provides an excellent platform for system builders," said Robert Danese, executive director, North American System Builders Association (NASBA). "AMD has been totally committed to the needs of system builders since the inception of NASBA, and this award is testament to AMD's continued support."
