I remember those times too well.

Those days, the dow/compx ratio went under 2 (it held at 5 for a long time but that broke off after October 1998, ironically) with the DJ briefly under 10000 for the first time in 1999/2000. That ratio reverted to nearly 5 now (but it is good for a bounce regardless whether its driven by a bullish nasdaq or bearish old economy).

Btw the dow looks like a well balanced portfolio, it contains some techs which took a beating but that was balanced by financials, oil and other dow components. It is in the green for the last 52 weeks.

I should expect that the general market follows the techs...(except that the turning interest scenario helps value stocks which aren't sensitive to changing growth expectations).
