I agree with you. I thought the Barron's review didn't at all address the needs/requirements of those who most use online brokers.

For example, there was essentially no investigation into the quality of fills, let alone the quality vis-a-vis the actual size put up for bid/ask.

Likewise, there was no investigation into which brokers accept payment for order flow, which brokers fill out of their own inventory, which brokers offer price improvement, the effectiveness of price improvement, and the like.

Also no investigation into the order cancellation process, and how effective (timely) this is from broker to broker.
