I don't think servicemen are underpaid at all. When you consider the total benefit package of serving twenty years in the military it is awesome by any standards. Two brand new homes were built and sold up the hill from me just recently for $1.3M and 1.5M both to retired military Generals. I guess they are just meagerly getting along! BTW, the it is usually referred to as DOD without the periods.
