The bigger problem at NT? Marconi becomes sole-supplier to BT:
totaltele.com

Last June, it was reported that Marconi would provide the following technology: its remotely configurable Optical Add/Drop multiplexer, the PMA 32, and its new DWDM line systems, the PLT40/80 family. Optical cross-connects are also included. The U.K. company will also supply its new high-speed SDH products, the MSH 64 (10 Gbps Add/Drop multiplexers) and the MSH 256, the 40 Gbps version, plus its current range of SDH multiplexers, line systems and cross-connects. All products will be managed by Marconi's integrated Optical/SDH management system, the MV38.

According to Monday's announcement, the company will now also supply optical technology that would have come from Nortel, such as network management tools.

Anyone know what gave Marconi the edge? Is there a serious problem at NT that we should be aware of? Why would NT initially get half the contract and then lose it?
