Don, it appears from a quick look at E&M (page 245) that high volume is a sign of an exhaustion gap. A close near the high of the gap could signal a reversal. A failure to follow through much further to the downside could also be a plus. Someone may want to double-check; I read it in a hurry, and their writing is often obscure.

Two points in favor of an exhaustion gap: it is not the first gap in the move, and the downside target from the bear flag has been obtained.
