Raven: I didn't read most of the weekend posts, so I don't really know what the argument was -- but if the issue is that Jenna can't mention her commercial site, that seems bizarre to me. What the heck is wrong with Jenna, or any of the other "gurus" with commercial sites, getting a little "free advertising" on SI? And do we really think it's "free advertising"? Jenna works awfully hard on this thread, and a number of the other SI gurus work hard on their threads as well. The gurus bring eyeballs to SI -- that is: revenues. Shouldn't SI be willing to exchange some "free advertising" in exchange for these eyeballs?

I still think SI's greatest loss was Tokyo Joe. I didn't trade his calls very often -- although I did make a mint a couple of years back when he posted news about GERN's stem-cell research from the European wires before it hit the U.S. wires -- but loved his long, rambling, wonderfully insightful and hilarious commentaries about the markets, global economies, love, life. For all of TJ's problem, and there were many, SI lost a bit of its wit and charm when Big Brother drove him away.

SI needs to appreciate what the gurus bring to their service: community, education, the tools to work up and down markets with equal vigor -- in a word, value.
