Silicon Investor thrives on spirited, animated debate on any and every financial topic (as well as non-financial topics in the coffee shop). While discussion usually centers around interest rates or technology stocks, this past week a great deal of attention has been paid to a section of the Silicon Investor’s Terms of Use which states...

... "[you may not use Silicon Investor] for the transmission of advertising or promotion of any product or service"

To provide a bit more context:

YOU CANNOT post links which declare the qualities of a particular service or product for the purpose of increasing sales.

However, YOU CAN continue to post links that enhance or develop on-topic discussion.

As with every issue we discuss on Silicon Investor there will be some gray area. It is up to the Silicon Investor Admin to determine what is advertising/promotion and what is not. If you're not sure, ask. Violations will be dealt with through warnings and suspensions.

If you see an advertisement please report it to SI Admin (Jeff) or e-mail the violation to si-techsupport@infospace.com Jeff will review and take appropriate action.

Please do not harass or threaten, use harmful, vulgar or obscene language or do anything objectionable towards the individual you are accusing. Like advertising, this is a TOU violation and will be dealt with through warnings and suspension. Violations of this nature should also be reported to SI Admin (Jeff).

I’m sure everyone would like to get back to discussing the markets. Thanks for reading.
