John, interestingly, now that nobody's worried, or even looking, they may actually do it. Chinese devaluations were standard fare up until the '98 crisis came along...then China gained a lot of face by not devaluing, an important concept in most Asian cultures.

now we have yet another wave of devaluations across the region...and i suspect the HK currency peg will come under attack once again. it's really a very easy target. China won't be able or willing to hold out forever.
