Is there anyone from AMD marketing on this thread? I know you probably won't want to come out in the open, but please just listen to an idea I have. We know the penetration of computers into the homes of the middle and upper classes is so high that for continued growth they must penetrate the lower middle and lower classes. This means cheaper machines. Why doesn't AMD partner with a PC maker with a brand and distribution channels and build a "value" PC based on your 486 chips? Use marketing to build value around your chips, so that when people see "AMD inside" they know they're getting a real value. Educate the unpenetrated market that buying Intel is buying power they don't need and cant afford. Buying AMD means they've got a fast chip that will do everything they want, plus they will have money left over for more memory, more software, or groceries.

Get with it you guys. Build a niche and a brand name for your processors. Get off your chairs, and do some real marketing to the mass market. All I ever see from you is ads in EE Times. Get into the mass market. Build a brand name among consumers. How about a partnership with Micron Electronics, God knows they could use a boost too!
