We don't have any turnover at all. I start with apprentices so I don't have to deal with the entrenched philosophies of blowhards. I pay them above scale and put them through the 5 year apprenticeship. It's has worked very well for us. Seems I need to have 4-5 pre-apprentices before I can get one that will be good enough to continue but the ones that stick have all been very good. My current apprentice was a shop foreman in a non union shop. Most of us would look at that as quite a step down. Mark is thrilled to work for someone who appreciates what he is doing and he took a pay cut to do it. I quickly got him back up to what he was making after a 30 day trial, but you kind of get the idea.
