Ariba Announces Chinese and Korean Translations for Globalized B2B eCommerce Solutions
Enhanced Features to Accelerate Customer Adoption Across Asia-Pacific
LIVE 2001, HONG KONG, Mar 12, 2001 /PRNewswire via COMTEX/ -- Ariba, Inc. (Nasdaq: ARBA chart, msgs), the global leader in B2B commerce and collaboration, today announced new Asian language versions -- Chinese and Korean -- of its industry-leading solutions, Ariba(R)Buyer(TM), Ariba Dynamic Trade(TM), Ariba Marketplace(TM), and the Ariba Commerce Services Network(TM).

In view of the booming development and promising prospect of eCommerce in Asia-Pacific, particularly in the Chinese-, Korean- and Japanese-language markets, Ariba continues to help its customers meet the localized needs in the region, improve efficiencies and save costs. As a part of this commitment, Ariba has launched Chinese and Korean language support centers in the Asia-Pacific region.

By deploying Chinese and Korean translations of Ariba Buyer, enterprises can now easily extend the benefits of Internet-based procurement throughout Asia-Pacific. Buyers will be able to communicate via the Ariba Commerce Services Network with their local suppliers in Chinese and Korean through the entire transaction process.

The addition of Chinese and Korean versions for Ariba Marketplace and Ariba Dynamic Trade enables marketplace customers to conduct business with trading partners in their local languages and expand their market reach across Asia-Pacific. Comprehensive globalization capabilities allow buyers and sellers to negotiate and conduct trade online in the language and currency determined by each trader's region or personal preference. Ariba Buyer, Ariba Marketplace, and Ariba Dynamic Trade are also available with translations in Japanese, German, French, Spanish, Brazilian Portuguese, and Italian. The multi-language support is a true reflection of Ariba's globalized eCommerce solutions for enterprises worldwide.

"The globalization and localization features of Ariba Marketplace and Ariba Dynamic Trade have helped us rapidly roll it out to our employees and customers worldwide. The addition of Chinese and Korean versions will not only allow us to deploy Ariba Marketplace, and Ariba Dynamic Trade rapidly in Asia-Pacific but will also allow us to generate more revenue through quick employee and supplier adoption," said Mr. Johannes Zhou, president & COO, Sparkice.com.

In-Rhul SUH, General Manager of Hyundai and Kia Corporate, commented, "It's not easy to identify an e-Marketplace solution that can meet our requirements. We find that Ariba is the only choice as it can seamlessly run over multiple technology platforms while addressing the specific local needs of our global business units. Ariba provides the most comprehensive solution for our operations."

"According to Forrester Research, eCommerce in Asia-Pacific is expected to reach US$219 billion over the next four years. We have already seen the potential of this huge untapped market and started launching Ariba products into the region," said Mukesh Aghi, senior vice president of Ariba Asia-Pacific. "In fact, the increasing number of Asian customers has proven the success of our business strategy. To keep this momentum growing, we are committed to delivering customized solutions for the Asia-Pacific market. Product versions in Chinese and Korean are further evidence of Ariba's dedicated efforts to help enterprises capitalize on strategic Internet procurement opportunities."

Translations in Chinese and Korean are available now for Ariba Buyer and Ariba Marketplace, and in April, 2001 for Ariba Commerce Service Network and May, 2001 for Ariba Dynamic Trade.
