``Excluding technology and telecommunications stocks, every sector of the Standard & Poor's 500 Index is up from a year ago,'' Wieting says. ``People focus on tech as if it's the whole market. The Nasdaq makes up just 20 percent of market capitalization.''

A year ago, when the Nasdaq was trading in the rarified atmosphere above 5,000 and the sky was the limit, ``nearly 200 S&P 500 companies were trading at a multiple of 10 times earnings or below,'' Wieting says. ``We starved the economy of capital during the tech bubble.''
