We aren't even in the same area code as the Depression. Heck, we're a long ways off from 1974 also.

On an equal weighted basis, the S&P 500 is up 20% from a year ago. The only reason for all the doom and gloom is because way too many people were overweighted in technology. We're in the process of curing that imbalance right now, which is the primary cause of the current slowdown.

It is entirely possible that we don't go down much more from here. To me, though, that just means that we don't go anywhere for a few years. Instead of 1974 or 1929, then, maybe we'll just be reliving a big part of the 50's.
