What about software? Software will exist whether it resides on a PC, a server or a handheld device. Don't you feel that MSFT will still be the dominant software company 14 years from now?

This I agree with. It's more likely that MSFT will succeed in these areas than other companies. What I disagree with is that it's a bet it all situation. I feel that the PC will still be around and more households will own them than today. Just like jet packs haven't replaced cars, the PC will not be replaced. IMO, the PC industry is similar to the auto industry of the 60s. It's mature, but still growing. 30 years later it still exists and more cars are sold this decade than the last decade. It's not a rapid growth industry, but it's still a major revenue generator.
