Art-- you are correct,,,many that used to be adding to the surplus may be getting a refund this year. Long ago it became clear most winners that buy & hold plan on holding forever. I do not plan on living that long and want to do things in this life time. S/Ls can also be for those that want to play. The S/L on GE was placed @ 45.25. At that price a profit was assured although much smaller than planned. How ever that cash would be locked awaiting it to rise at this point and I would not be able to replace those shares much cheaper. I never want my cash locked away in a loss situation. As things move I'll determine losses to be taken and not the mkt. Just my means of preserving capital, protecting profits, and keeping all opportunities available.
