The snowball effect does worry me, but I am not sure that I agree with you that consumers have zero extra cash to spend right now. If that was the case, we would have bottomed in the market by now. I think that a certain kind of spending will be curtailed, but I don't think that it will hit the entire economy. For example, I don't think that I will be getting a ferrari for my birthday, but I would bet that manufacturers of lower priced cars won't feel the effects at all.
