OT - Cary's "competent" comment
Competent F-106 pilot (QED - no crashes)
Competent Harvard MBA (QED - degree conferred)
Competent candidate (3 for 3)
Competent husband (1 for 1 - marriages, that is)
Competent father (2 for 2 - twins)
Competent organizational manager / coach (Picks good people ...)
Competent delegator (... then leaves them alone to do their jobs)
Competent legislative tactician (ask Bob Bullock)
Competent triangulator (learned that one from WJC - the "Goldilocks" tax cut speech was a classic example)

Yes, I think we can call him competent at quite a bit. In fact, that's why I think you're name-calling - because you're scared he'll be too competent getting his agenda passed.

Let me recommend that you adopt the same perspective I have on Clinton - I intensely abhor his agendas and behavior, but I respect his charismatic ability to achieve his goals. I also respect rattlesnakes - but I don't have to like 'em.

On the other hand, GW is most effective when he's underestimated -- so please go right on believing the media pravda instead of judging reality. I prescribe a steady dose of Molly Ivins columns - she coined the perjoritave moniker "Shrub" for the "little Bush," and hasn't budged out of shrill denial since.
