Here is the Original Press Release From EBAY:

"..To support the deployment and operation of its new XML-based Web service, eBay will deploy Windows 2000 Server across all of its front-end Web servers."

biz.yahoo.com

We've discussed the Ebay Architecture ad nauseaum during some of the outages and the issue of their architecture of using windows NT as front end web servers was brought up. You can use Netcraft and find that they have been using Windows NT servers for as long as they have been a Sun Account. As far as .NET collaboration - Sun could issue a press release today annoucing the intersection of Sun One and .NET - with ebXML, SOAP, etc..there is nothing mutually exclusive about them and by the time any of them become real they will have the cure for cancer as well..its clear that Ebay was angling for exposure onto Microsofts dominant web properties (see i can say something nice about MS) and thats what they got with no outlay whatsoever to MS.
