These few amendments should be the vigil of those subscribers interesting in preserving a modicum of the vision of the Dryer brothers.

1) Disallowing complete threads talking about particular users. A User who signs on to Silicon Investor should know he will have he will enjoy freedom from harassment. This is disallowed on a number of other financial bulletin boards.

2) Threads should only be allowed to talk about stocks and coffee shops should be a friendly place to rest from the vagaries of the trading day and not a den of personal
attacks. On certain sites this is not allowed. I have seen them already.

3) I totally agree with the ban on advertising by this time. There are a lot more sites on SI now and we would and have gladly changed when it came from the proper authority. During the last 4 years, we had a reciprocal relationship with SI.. we brought subscribers (5, or 500 or more it doesn't matter) or kept some that were here interested and they were very nice about it. We built with the help of a wonderful bunch of posters, a high traffic thread. We didn't need to open 6 threads a week to be on the Hot Subjects list artificially, we got their naturally, simply, posters read, posted and bookmarked.

A change of policy from SI would have been quite enough and accomplished the same. The Dryer brothers had a wonderful handle on all of this. So did SI Bob. It was a symbionic relationship. WE were supposed to supply content to threaders for "free" and we did and still do.

Now we need a change also, we need more features not the advertising, our 'other area' takes care of that rather well, but the ability to run a fully featured interactive bulletin board on a particular website simultaneously (i.e. on SI and the particular website)and have a free and password protected area. So I personally don't care, we were already planning this for months in numerous posts with those in charge.

We had our advertising, SI benefitted, we had a couple of extra bookmarks here and there, we were never loudmouthed, uncouth, bullied or infringed on any thread and kept this thread hostility free, fun and informative. So after 4 years of acting with professionalism, quality and respect for posters, absolutely no hostility ever we were visited by one TIM LUKE ;-)

Are we disillusioned. Nah, we expected it. Some positive changes in the last year for myself, obviously propelled those few people in this direction. At this point, I really have quite a lot on my plate and SI is a board, after all, just a bored.. I mean board.

In fact we even had a code arrangement whereby we called our intraday updates via CODES ON SI.. And this was done for a period of 16 months there were exactly 3 complaints.

We thank you for your post. Let's end this on a modicum of neutrality, you go your way and we'll go ours. You do your vigil and those that remain on SI should do theirs and they will
